Use Facebook Like a Pro with These 7 Tips and Tricks

Being the biggest social network site with over a billion active users, Facebook is definitely a force to be reckoned with. It is not just a place to post your current status; it is your one-stop place for social gathering and entertainment. Whether you are a Facebook addict or new to the social networking giant, these few handy tricks will surely help you use Facebook like a pro.

Below we have listed seven Facebook tips and tricks to help you get the most from Facebook.

1. Save Posts to View Later

If you found something interesting in your news feed but don’t have enough time to view it, then you can save it to view later. This is also handy if you want to save a post for later reference, like a food recipe. To save a post, click on the “upside down arrow” and select “Save post” from the menu.

The post will be saved in the “Saved” section of your Facebook profile which you can find under “Favorites” on the left side of your Facebook home page.

2. Use Facebook’s “On This Day” Feature

Facebook has an “On This Day” feature that lets you look back into your memories on Facebook on the current day but different year. For example, if you access the “On This Day” page on March 15 2016, you can see your activity on March 15 2015, 2014, 2013 and so on. This is very handy to keep yourself updated with your past activity or to just remember the good times.

To ensure you only access the good memories, Facebook also lets you filter dates and people to keep the spoilers out. Just visit the Facebook On This Day page, and you will see your past activity.

3. Check Activity Log

Facebook keeps a complete log of all your activity on Facebook. You can access the Activity log by going to your account and clicking on “View Activity Log” located at the bottom-right corner of your cover photo. You will be able to see all your activity including comments, tags, likes and events, etc. This is perfect if you want a quick recap of what you were doing on Facebook or to find any suspicious activity.

4. Post in Multiple Languages

Facebook now lets page owners create posts in multiple languages. For example, you can create a post in English but also specify for it to translate the post in German and Spanish. The user will then be able to select German or Spanish from a drop-down menu and see a translated version.

To enable multiple languages, go to your page and click on “Settings.” Now under “General” settings, scroll down and enable “Post in Multiple Languages.” The page admins now should be able to create posts in multiple languages.

Note: the translation will still be machine-based, so it may not be as perfect as you may expect.

5. View Your Profile as Another Person

This is a perfect feature for privacy-conscious people who want to ensure no personal information is being shown to the public. Just click on the drop-down menu next to the “View Activity Log” button and then click on “View As…” You will see your profile as the “Public” sees it. You can also choose to see your profile as a specific friend, handy for ensuring your activity is hidden from them.

6. Post Only for Specific People

By default, your Facebook posts are shared publicly, and anyone can see them. While creating a post, you can change privacy settings to let your post only be seen by specific people. Click on the “Public” button under the status bar, and you will see options to change who can see your post. You can choose just your friends or click on “More options” to select individual people or a specific group of people. You can also check our complete guide to update your Facebook status only to specific people.

7. Keep Tabs on Your Friends

Don’t really want to sound creepy here, but if you really want to get notified for every post your friend posts on Facebook, you can do that as well. Just visit your friend’s profile and click on the “Friends” drop-down menu. From the menu, click on “Get Notifications,” and you will start receiving notifications for every post they make.
