Compact With Case
Why don’t I just use standard monitors with my laptop? They don’t stack together easily and come in a nice compact case. Before I even connected the Cevaton S6 15.6″ Laptop Triple Screen Extender, I was impressed with how they fold up in a small carrying case that’s just slightly larger than the screen size. There’s even a front pouch for storing cables.
The two 15.6″ monitors connect together, protecting the screens. The arms attach to the monitors, fold together, tuck behind one of the monitors, and it all slides into the case.
While it would be nice if the top of the case had a zipper or Velcro latch, I’m just happy to have any type of case included. Far too many gadgets just have all the components tossed in a box, and you have to buy a separate case for everything.
Vivid Displays With Customizable Settings
Each monitor is 1080 FHD IPS and lets you customize settings separately. From basic tasks like browsing to watching videos, both screens look great. It’s easy to adjust the brightness, contrast, and more to get the perfect look and experience for each screen.
Multiple Ways to Connect
When I first looked over the directions for the Cevaton S6 15.6″ Laptop Triple Screen Extender, I realized I wouldn’t be able to use both screens at the same time without an adapter.
The ideal connection method is two full-featured USB-C ports to connect each monitor directly to your laptop. If you only have one USB-C port, you can connect one monitor that way, then use the USB-A cable and HDMI cable to connect the second monitor.
My laptop has no USB-C ports, so I had to get a little creative. Between a few adapters and the included cables, I did manage to get both monitors connected.
Speaking of cables, the monitors include:
- 2 x USB-C to USB-C cables
- 2 x HDMI to USB-C cables
- 2 x USB-A to USB-C cables
The company even lists how to connect them if you’re having trouble getting set up. Just provide your laptop model, and they’ll do what they can to get you started.
However, depending on your laptop model, the screens may not be compatible, based on the ports you have. It’s designed to work with Windows, macOS, PS4, Xbox, and Switch. But the description says it won’t work with MacBooks with an M1/M2/M3 chip.
Arranging the Initial Display
My absolute favorite part about the Cevaton S6 15.6″ Laptop Triple Screen Extender is the number of possible configurations. I started with the basic setup, though, which has both monitors in landscape mode on either side of my laptop screen.
A little assembly of sliding each monitor into the correct arm is all that’s required. They snap securely in place. I tried wiggling them just to see if they’d slip off the arms, but no, they held tight.
The stand allows for up to 235-degree horizontal rotation and up to 90-degree vertical tilt. At just over two pounds per side, it’s lightweight enough to move around and adjust to your preferred setup.
The stand also has a kickstand to prop it up better, and the middle extends to support 13-inch to 17.3-inch laptops. After I had the screens in place, I just had to extend the center of the stand, slide my laptop in the center, and I was ready to start attaching cables.
I’ll admit, I don’t love the placement of the ports on the back of the monitor. They’re hard to slide the cables into. I understand why they’re set up this way – to keep cables flush against the back, but it’s not easy to see the ports or connect the cables.
Once everything’s connected, the monitors should power up, as long as your laptop is on. On my first try, I had one monitor show “no signal,” but I switched my cables and had that problem solved quickly. If either screen doesn’t power on, slide the power switch on the back of the monitor.
Configurations for Every Setup
The Cevaton S6 15.6″ Laptop Triple Screen Extender isn’t a one-trick pony. It’s not just a screen on either side of your laptop. The instructions come with guides on setting up 11 different orientations. For some of these, you’ll need the two extra pieces that attach to the original stand. The smaller of the two rotates to give you different angles.
I spent quite a while playing around with different configurations, from the basics of having one landscape and one portrait on either side of the laptop, to something more complex, with stacked screens.
A few of my favorite configurations I set up include:
Stacking two landscape monitors on top of each other.
Stacking a portrait screen on a landscape screen and vice versa.
Having two portrait mode screens against each other. You can also alter this one to have your laptop in front, with the two screens in back to show your display to others.
I also like that you don’t have to use both screens. Just need one? Just connect one. I can easily rotate it to use it in portrait or landscape mode. Or, attach the extender arm to elevate it to make it easier to see.
Before you get too excited over all the combinations, let me give you a warning. The extender arm doesn’t want to detach. I’m glad it holds securely, but it took me a good five minutes of pulling to get it to release. I was honestly afraid I’d break it. All the other components disconnect with a firm pull. Multiple times, I had issues disconnecting the extender arm.
Using the Cevaton S6 15.6″ Laptop Triple Screen Extender
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed using this screen extender. It works great for displaying multiple browser pages, email, documents, and more, without having to jump between apps/tabs on a single screen. The numerous configurations make it easy to always get the perfect setup for my needs. Plus, the case instantly makes me like it.
You can get the Cevaton S6 15.6″ Laptop Triple Screen Extender for just $399.99.
