Microsoft introduced the Live Tiles feature in the Start menu long ago in Windows 8. These live tiles are pretty helpful as they show information and status of apps. For instance, the Weather app uses the live tiles to show quick weather information, the Mail app shows your recent emails, the Calendar app shows your upcoming appointments or events, the News app shows the latest news, etc.
As good and useful as live tiles are, they sometimes get stuck and show the same information without any updates whatsoever. To solve this live tiles not updating issue, you can make Windows automatically flush the live tiles every time you shut down your system. This forces the live tiles to update themselves when you turn on the system.

Flush Live Tiles in Windows 10
Just like with many things, we can use the handy Windows Registry to automatically flush live tiles when you shut down your system. Before editing the Registry, back it up so that you can restore it if you make any mistakes or if something goes wrong.
To start, search for regedit in the Start menu, right-click on it and select the option “Run as Administrator” to open the Windows Registry Editor with admin privileges.
In the Windows Registry, navigate to the following location. To make things easier, copy the below path, paste it in the address bar and press the Enter button. This action will automatically take you to the required key.
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindows
Once you are on the target key, we need to create a new key and value to make the automatic live tile flushing work. To do that, right-click on the “Windows” key and select the option “New” and then “Key.”
Name the new key “Explorer” and press the Enter button on your keyboard. This is how it looks when you are done creating and naming the key.
After creating the key, select it, right-click on the right panel and select the option “New -> DWORD (32-bit) Value.”
The above action will create an empty DWORD value. Name the new value “ClearTilesOnExit.”
Now we need to change the default Value Data. To do that, double-click on the newly created value. In the Edit Value window, enter “1” in the Value Data field and click on the “OK” button to save the changes.
This is how it looks when you are done with the changes.
That’s it. Just restart your system to make the changes take effect. From now on, Windows will automatically flush live tiles when you shut down your system. When turning it back on, live tiles will be updated with new information automatically.
If you ever want to undo the changes we just made, right-change the value data back to “0” to simply delete the “ClearTilesOnExit” by right-clicking on it and selecting the option “Delete.” This action will stop automatic live tile flushing in Windows 10.
