Get KAMRUI GK3Plus Mini PC

The days of me having a bulky desktop PC are long over, which is why I love my trusty laptop. But sometimes I miss the power of a desktop. That’s why I was excited to test out the KAMRUI GK3Plus Mini PC, which offers a desktop experience in a compact size.

Don’t Let the Size Fool You

Admittedly, I assumed a mini PC would mean a bare-bones PC. After all, how powerful could a PC be that’s only 5.1 in x 5.1 in x 1.96 in? Yes, it’s about the size of my hand. Including the power adapter, it still doesn’t even reach two pounds.

The KAMRUI GK3Plus Mini PC is designed to fit nearly anywhere, unlike tall desktop towers. In fact, it even comes with a bracket to attach it to a monitor for an all-in-one PC look and feel.

During my review, all I had on hand to test it with was a 15-inch portable monitor, so I couldn’t attach it to the mini PC. Still, it made the smaller monitor look large in comparison.

Productive Specs For Working From Home

I can’t have just one app open. Usually while I’m working, I have the following open:

  • More than a dozen browser tabs
  • File explorer
  • LibreOffice (at least several documents and one or two spreadsheets)
  • Paint
  • Slack
  • CherryTree

I need a PC that can support multitasking with ease. The KAMRUI GK3Plus Mini PC has the specs I need to easily get most any task accomplished.

It features:

  • 12th Gen Alder Lake N95 processor (quad-core, 1.7 GHz to 3.4 GHz)
  • 16 GB RAM
  • 512 GB M.2 SSD
  • 1.2 GHz Intel graphics
  • Support for a three-screen display with 4K at 60 GHz
  • Bluetooth 4.2 support
  • Dual band Wi-Fi support
  • Windows 11 Pro

It doesn’t skimp on features just because it’s small. In fact, it actually has more RAM and hard drive space than my laptop, though its processor is just slightly less powerful.

For me, the specs are more than ample to handle all my work-from-home tasks, along with more fun tasks like streaming music and movies.

Easy to Upgrade

It only takes a few years for a new computer to become obsolete. You always need more space, more RAM, more processing power. But, the KAMRUI GK3Plus Mini PC tackled this.

Unscrew a single screw, and press a button to open the case to upgrade the SSD and/or RAM. Or, add in a 2.5-inch SSD just above the RAM and included SSD. It’s expandable up to 2 TB, giving you plenty of space for files, videos, and photos.

Generous Number of Ports

I like my laptop, but it really could use more ports. I think that’s the problem most people have with their devices: more ports, please!

The KAMRUI GK3Plus Mini PC is tiny but includes:

  • 2 x USB 2.0
  • 2 x USB 3.0
  • 2 x HDMI
  • VGA
  • LAN
  • Mic in / Audio out
  • DC

Thanks to all the ports, I was able to connect my USB Bluetooth adapter for my mouse/keyboard, external SSD, and USB key (for logging into certain sites), while still having an available USB port. Having two HDMI ports means it’s simple for me to have a dual-monitor setup without needing an adapter.

The only thing that’s missing is a USB-C port. That would be a great addition to make this mini PC even more useful.

Great for Working From Home and More

Throughout my review, I kept coming back to how the KAMRUI GK3Plus Mini PC really is near perfect for an inexpensive work-from-home PC. I had it up and running within 10 minutes, and that includes setting up Windows 11 Pro for initial use.

While a sticker on the case says not to connect to Wi-Fi or LAN during setup because there may be too many updates, I didn’t have any issues.

For me, work from home involves writing, researching, and light photo editing. But this mini PC would also handle the following:

  • School or college PC
  • Viewing and streaming media, especially with the 4K support
  • Professional image editing
  • Light video editing
  • Casual gaming (It’s really not built for more resource-intensive games.)
  • General use, such as checking email and shopping online

I had all my necessary apps installed and ready to work in less than 30 minutes. Also, I tested copying over a large file (~9 GB) using the USB 3.0 port, and it was done in just a few minutes. It also handled YouTube with ease, and I had no issues multitasking.

Testing the Limits

To really put it to the test, I had CherryTree, LibreOffice Calc, LibreOffice Writer, 12 Brave tabs (including one actively playing a YouTube video), Spotify (playing music), Copilot, and Paint all running. I had no lag with music or video and no issues editing documents or images. In fact, according to Task Manager, I wasn’t even taxing the CPU, maxing out at around 39 percent.

I also tried playing Eternal Fury (an online RPG) in my browser. Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience, but I did notice some skips and a slight lag from time to time. However, this isn’t marketed as a gaming PC and doesn’t really have the specs for it. If that’s what you need, I’d recommend another PC.

I also have a 3D scanner with software that’s rather demanding. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting the KAMRUI GK3Plus Mini PC to handle it. I was right. The processor just wasn’t up to the task, and every time I tried to start a scan, the screen set at initializing before freezing. It’s certainly not ideal for ultra resource-intensive tasks, like image processing and graphic generation.

Finally, I ran a few benchmark tests with Geekbench. I knew going in that this wasn’t going to score super-high, especially in comparison to an Intel i7. But it actually did pretty well based on its specs and met expectations. The CPU scored 1187 for a single core and 2859 for multicore.

The GPU benchmark went much the same way with a score of 3163.

Everything Included

I was impressed that the KAMRUI GK3Plus Mini PC includes an HDMI cable to connect to your monitor to get you set up quickly. It was nice not to have to dig around for a cable or go buy one.

Naturally, it also includes the power adapter, a user manual, and, as mentioned before, a mounting bracket.

I really didn’t like the power adapter cord and wished it were slightly longer. Based on where my outlet is, I’d likely need to use a power strip to plug the mini PC in if I mounted it on a monitor.

Could This Affordable Mini PC Replace Your Desktop?

Yes, it really could. Unless you’re a gamer or use high-end video/graphic editing software, the KAMRUI GK3Plus Mini PC really can replace a bulky desktop – or even a laptop. Honestly, I’ve found myself using this more than my laptop since finishing my testing.

The best part is that it’s affordable. Grab the KAMRUI GK3Plus Mini PC for just $141.49 through the end of the year, after applying the Amazon $20 off coupon and the 5% off coupon code TB9V9ZWV. You’ll have enough money left over to splurge on a nice monitor.
