With hundreds of stores selling the same item at different prices, use browser extension to save money and always ensure you get the best deal. Extensions do the heavy lifting so you can sit back and wait for the deals to come to you.

1. RetailMeNot

When it comes to finding coupon or discount codes for online retailers, RetailMeNot is one of the best names around. The site includes nearly every retailer you can think of, from a multitude of categories, including fashion, home, food, and more.

With codes and promos for over 20,000 retailers, it’s hard not to save money here. I like that there are even holiday pages, such as Black Friday, to help find seasonal deals. All I have to do is visit a retailer and the extension automatically checks for deals. It’s that easy. You can also use these other methods to save money while shopping online.

2. Capital One Shopping

Capital One Shopping is one of the best browser extensions to save money online by comparing prices, applying discount codes, and offering cash back rewards. All you have to do is visit a retailer, check out an item, and use the extension to see how to save.

Sometimes, deals appear in the extension and other times they appear under the item’s price. For example, a pair of Bose headphones on Amazon had a deal alert under the price showing they were cheaper on another retailer. If I had been actually buying the headphones, I would’ve saved over $30.

3. Keepa – Amazon Price Tracker

If you like shopping at Amazon.com, then Keepa is a must-have browser extension to save money. It only works with Amazon and shows a graph with a complete history of the product price from the day it was listed, including Amazon price, new market price and used market price.

As an extra bonus, it even compares the price with popular competitors for that product. My favorite part – I get notifications if a product I’m watching drops below a price I set. I can even get deal notifications in my favorite categories, making shopping easier.

4. The Camelizer

The Camelizer works similarly to Keepa by showing you the pricing history of items listed on Amazon. Simply visit a product page on Amazon, click the extension icon, and view the price history chart. It also gives you deal alerts so you never miss out on a great price.

For some reason, no matter what browser I tried, The Camelizer site says the extension was already installed. If this happens to you, just visit your browser’s extension store directly and search for The Camelizer to install it.

5. ibotta

ibotta helps shoppers save by providing cash back and notifying you about price drops and deals. The service works by activating cash back offers and clipping digital coupons, which helps you get cash back on all sorts of purchases. Plus, it works with thousands of retailers.

The extension is only compatible with Chrome and Chromium-based browsers, including Edge. What I personally love is I can use the mobile app to get cash back on in-store purchases and the browser extension to save even more when I shop online. Once I get $20 in cash back, I can cash out to my bank, PayPal, or even a gift card to numerous retailers.

6. Honey

Honey is one of the more well known browser extensions to save money. I’ve used this one for years to automatically search for promo codes before I check out. It was purchased by PayPal, so you can use the same account for both if you want. Depending on the retailer, discounts appear as a sidebar pop-up, in the extension icon, or under the item price.

According to Honey, it works with approximately 30,000 shopping platforms and saves users around $126/year. Like most shopping extensions, it’ll also track pricing for items on your list, so you never miss a great deal. Plus, cashback bonuses let you earn PayPal reward points, aka real cash.

7. Rakuten

Rakuten is another money saving browser extension that searches for better deals and automatically applies coupon codes. However, it’s most well-known for its cashback system. When you shop through the extension or Rakuten’s site at a large number of retailers, you get a percentage of cash back.

Rakuten is able to do this thanks to its partnership with over 3,500 major retailers. These retailers pay Rakuten a commission for sending shoppers their way. Rakuten then cuts its users in on that commission in the form of cash back. The only downside is payouts only occur every three months.

8. Avast SafePrice

With so many retailers online, how do you know if a site’s safe? Avast SafePrice comes to you courtesy of the antivirus app Avast. It’s completely free and not only shows you the best deals, but whether a site is safe to shop at. Personally, I’ve found it to be one of the best browser extensions to save money, while keeping me safer online.

It doesn’t work with as many retailers when it comes to comparing prices. But, it does a great job of finding coupon codes and letting you copy them directly to your cart. I’d recommend using this extension alongside another one for the best price tracking and comparison.

9. Fakespot

Fakespot works differently than other extensions on this list. It saves you money by spotting fake reviews, so you don’t waste your hard-earned cash on bad products and dishonest retailers. Every product gets a letter grade to help you understand if reviews might be fake.

Sadly, sometimes retailers pay for fake reviews. Fakespot is here to help you tell the difference. It’s not 100 percent all the time, but I’ve found it gives me a little more peace of mind when shopping online. Of course, it also pays to be well aware of common shopping scams.

10. CouponCabin

Coupon Cabin works much like Rakuten and Honey. Not only do you get cashback, but this money saving browser extension uncovers coupon codes too. Currently, it works with over 6,000 online retailers for cashback and you even get same day payments on approved purchases.

The only thing I don’t like is you can’t get cash back if you shop online and choose to pick up in store. Otherwise, it works well for giving a percentage back when you shop and uncovering great coupon codes, including a few I didn’t find with other extensions.
